At Screech Owl Design, we believe that the romance and charm of a handwritten note is priceless. Each note is a diminutive work of art that can make a personal journey from one friend to another. We are delighted to play a small part in these gestures of community and acts of thoughfulness and sharing. We offer imaginative and beautifully printed note cards, postcards, and box sets for your various correspondence needs. All of our hand-drawn and original images are created and rendered by Jacqueline Schmidt, who is continually inspired by a hand written note.

Bird on a chair? Our images grow from an inspiration derived in nature. Our colorful cards playfully bring nature into contact with our quirky yet urbane domesticity. We enjoy cobbling these images together in a humorous and harmonious habitat where wildlife and wing chairs go hand in hand. At Screech Owl Design, we believe personal connection should not come at the expense of environmental responsibility. We print all of our cards on 100% post-consumer recycled paper or tree free 100% cotton paper recovered from scraps. Because of developments in processing recycled materials, we are able to offer eco-friendly products that look and feel as luxurious as any non-recycled paper.

Artist and designer Jacqueline Schmidt seamlessly blends the urban and natural worlds in all she creates. This ability was first shaped by childhood migrations between New York City, where she was born and raised, and her Catskills summer home. Later in life, after receiving a B.A. in visual arts and modern dance and an M.A. in creative arts therapy, Jacqueline felt inspired to share her unique artistic sense with wider audiences. This took form in 2008, when she founded Screech Owl Design, a stationery and lifestyle product company. Her work with Screech Owl as well as with independent clients has made Jacqueline a recognized expert in multiple types of design such as textiles, interiors, web, graphic, toys and many others. In addition to her commercial design work, Jacqueline's paintings and illustrations have been featured in galleries throughout the US. When not designing, making art or enjoying nature, she spends time at home in Brooklyn with her two cats, Pinky and Mister.
